Who wants to take a sneak peek of the cover of my next book?!
During turbulent times, Weather Witch has been providing solace and inspiration on the page... and a few giggles along the way, too.
Welcome to all my friends and fellow book devourers,
Today I’m going to start with wee introduction to my work and my newsletter, MIRI AND THE MUSE. I’m Miri Stone and I write steamy paranormal romance with strong urban fantasy crossovers. Some of you have just joined me after downloading BIKER BEAR on BookFunnel. Others might be reading this after being invited to take a look around after receiving a welcome email from a recent PARANORMAL or FATED MATES giftaway. However you got to be here, I’m so glad you’ve joined us.
If you are new here, you might want to check out this month’s wild short read called “BLOODLUST & PAPER CUTS” featuring a blood witch who accidentally summons her two smoldering fated mates—a demon and a griffin—here.
Inside today’s newsletter you will find—
What in the World?! — I’m in NZ to support loved ones but the words keep pouring out and for that I’m feeling grateful.
Cover Reveal — Let me introduce you to Weather Witch, book two of the Knights of Destruction, which is coming in hawt!
Juicy Snippet — As I’m nearly half way through Weather Witch, I thought I’d include a found family extract from LONELY KITTY which celebrates the beautiful world which is unfolding in the KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION.
Let’s get cracking!
WHAT IN THE WORLD…?!
You know how I said times have been tumultuous of late? Well, it turns out they’re gonna be a bit rocky for a while. My parents are dealing with some big life stuff. So, as of yesterday, I’ve come back to NZ to support them.
Just as a heads up, it’s probably going to mean my communications will get a little patchy every now and then.
In this time, three things are bringing me solace—
Walking on my local surf beach.
Reaching out to connect with my closest family and friends, wherever they may be.
And writing.
That’s right. I’ve been writing my dang ass off and it’s been an absolute joy.
After getting back from Love on the Beach book signing, it dawned on me that perhaps the reason I’d been stuck in burn out of late was because I was still trying to force an agenda with my writing.
I’d been trying so hard to finish off the holiday short, which got interrupted back in January, when the story actually wanting to flow out and onto the page was my next book in the same series.
Once I’d cottoned onto that wee nugget, the next day I opened up my manuscript for WEATHER WITCH instead. (I’d been jotting down ideas, plot outlines and character snippets for about a year.) A few short weeks later and I’m already hitting up on mid-point of a brand new book.
Are you excited about that? Because I sure am!
It feels pretty darn great to be tap dancing with Muse again so I couldn’t be more proud to share a sneak peek with you today of this gorgeous cover.
What do you do when life feels like it’s getting too big for your ‘everyday you’ to contain it? Do you read an old favorite book, binge watch a TV series, do some sort of arts and crafts creation or go for a walk in nature?
COVER REVEAL… DRUM ROLL PLEASE!
As you know, my bestie is a very talented cookie. Not only is she my co-writer in the Interstellar Dragon Mates of Drakonis and busy rolling out her own shifter motorcycle club romances, she’s also the amazing cover designer working on my KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION series.
As I do not have a preorder for this book up online yet, this sneak peek is just for you. You’re the ONLY ONES who are getting to see this cover reveal today. Whoop, whoop!
If you need to catch up on the KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION series before book two drops, make sure you devour LONELY KITTY and the prequel BIKER BEAR, stat.
A JUICY SNIPPET FROM LONELY KITTY
Since Elizabeth and her motley crew sauntered onto the page, the KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION have absolutely stolen my heart. I cannot wait to bring you more of these growly bikers in leather and the crazy kooks who are working their way into this motorcycle club of pizza-loving shifters and their fated mates.
To celebrate the beginnings of a new book set in this world, I’ve chosen an extract from LONELY KITTY to entice any subscribers who haven’t started yet to give it a try.
Rather than focusing on the romance aspect tonight, however, I went looking for a snippet on found family. Because at the heart of this book—like so much of my work—you will find recurring themes of platonic love (which, to me, is a different kind of soul mate) and friendship.
I know that without these two things in my life, I wouldn’t still be here writing new words for you to devour.
Now, not everyone in this fiery crew will wind up bosom buddies, of course. But I think grappling with what it means to be there for one another—to truly have a person’s back even when that growth is painful—is a part of what makes the tapestry of life come alive.
What do you think is an essential ingredient when building a thriving community?
If you’ve already devoured this book, friends and fellow book devourers, then I’d love to hear from you as well. Which is your favorite scene in the KNIGHTS OF DESTRUCTION so far? When did you know you were hooked on this pizza-loving crew?
“You two stink,” William declared. “Like I’m talking peeyew bad.”
My eyebrows slowly raised toward my hairline as I blinked at the phoenix, dumbfounded. What the f*ck did it matter if we smelled like a burned out bomb shelter? We were holding vigil while our mate was fighting for her life, for f*ck’s sake.
“Yeah, yeah. I get it. You’re all being terribly dramatic and sh*t. You know me, I’m all for the theatrics. But I’m not kidding.” William pointed in the direction of the en suite. “Get in that shower and change your f*cking clothes. Stat. When our girl wakes up, I don’t want her smelling death and decay on you. So, go on. Get.”
Without a word of protest, Jasper got to his feet. After laying a sweet kiss on Elizabeth’s hand, he mooched off in the direction of the bathroom. I followed suit, laying my own promise on her forehead. The phoenix had a point. Our mate would be dealing with enough when she finally came back to us. Whatever we could do to make it easier, we’d do in a heartbeat.
I was about to pull the bathroom door shut when Jasper put a hand on my bicep to stop me and motioned for me to listen in, then turned away to strip. His movements were wooden.
“And you.” William swung his pointy finger on Fontaine. “Are you ready to f*cking listen to me yet?”
The dragon snarled but there was no real bite to it. The fire had been snuffed out by the sight of the girl he’d wanted to protect screaming in agony as we held her down to change the bandages on her wounds.
“No,” Fontaine muttered bitterly. “I’ll never be f*cking ready and you know it.”
William softened in an instant and went to his mate, climbing onto his lap and wrapping his arms around his neck.
“I know, baby. I know,” he soothed. “But we have to start living again. Don’t you see? If we don’t, this sorrow is gonna follow us round like poison. Infecting everyone we touch. You can’t protect the ones you love by shoving them away. Destruction cannot survive like this.”
“What do you expect me to do, William?”
The dragon’s voice was brittle, crackling with despair.
“Let them in,” William replied simply. “Destruction has claimed them, despite how determined you’ve been to keep the whole world at bay. They’re family now. And we need to do better by our family.”
